Hello, I'm new here (in fact I'm not, because I had a registration years ago, which I lost).

Anyway, I have a black 2004 2.0 TDi Conoisseur, which I've run for the last ten years, taking it from 52k miles to its current 173. Finally this year it has needed serious welding at the back of the cills near the suspension. So I've been thinking about replacing it with something different and newer, but am irrationally tempted to buy a similar vintage 2.5 V6 instead. My annual mileage has gone down this year from 12,000 to less than a third of that, so I'm no longer concerned about mpg. And I do fancy a V6 auto ;-)

Should I do this? I'm going to have all the same issues with rust and suspension bushes that I've just spent a fortune fixing on the diesel, aren't I?

On the other hand, for the price of a Jaguar XF I could more or less completelty restore a 75 V6. Chalk and cheese I know.

What's a high mileage for the V6?

I'd consider a 260 but they're a bit pricey

Cheers
Richard

An auto V6 will at least stop you getting leaky clutch issues, worth a punt i'd say if you are not bothered.

Consider a 45/ZS too. ;)
