A few teams used to run this setup a few years back, Vauxhall, Vovo, Nissan and Ford from what I can remember...

Has anyone got any explanation for these "enclosed" wheels? They only used to run them on the rear. There might be an obvious explanation but I can't understand why? Maybe for aerodynamics but at the expense of brake cooling surely?

IIRC it was purely for aerodynamic effect, back in the super touring days works teams spent insane amounts of money developing their cars and spent quite a bit of time in the windtunnel.

God I miss that era, my favourite car back then was of course... ;)
