Hi all, just thinking about doing a auto box service now it's drying up outside!
I have a 2001 1.8 25 with the cvt box.
Genuine filter/oil/pan seal looks to be silly money.
Has anyone fitted a filter and seal from an early BMW mini with the sam box? They are a lot cheaper as pattern parts!!!

Also the cvt oil is silly money, and know the comma cvt aqe stuff is compatible but has anybody tried Mannol cvt oil?
I use Mannol compatible oil in my Volvo tank gearbox I place of very expensive Volvo or mobil stuff and it fine.
Mannol is about £5 a litre delivered?

One more thing does th Gibbons method work to flu these gearboxes?
Cheers all.

You need to ask this in the Rover 25/MG ZR section of the forum - the car car and detailing is for cleaning and polishing topics, and you are more likely to get an answer in the 25 subforum ;)

I know you do have to be careful which oil you use - quite a few people have had (expensive) subsequent problems where the wrong oil has been used. I would be careful using pattern parts - they are often cheaper for a reason; in particular cheap pattern filters often have a coarser paper, and/or fewer folds (which means less filtration area).
