Clockwork - you're doing a splendid job with the only recompense being 'praise' and knowing you're assisting us all'.(good feeling?)
However, what I had in mind was that you highlight this requirement and its reason, in you opening 'control' introduction.
Anyway, I'll be printing it all and hopefully extending and putting it into a booklet form.
Thereagain, time permitting as I have so many jobs on a back burner - living as if if I'm going to live to be 1000.

Hmmm.... Not too sure how I feel about that. This list is kinda my 'baby' that I've been nurturing for nearly two years now. 'Praise' is pretty much the most anyone can hope to achieve on forums (hence the rep system) and I created this list because I had an excellent experience at the garage I take my ZT to and it's with a massive thanks to the forum members to help me build it.

The fact that you're planning on printing this and extending takes some of the shine off of my hard work, if you know what I mean? Ok, I know it's only a forum and that it's all in the public domain, but still.

I'm not having a go or anything, just thought I'd be better saying it rather than let it rest.

Please Satan, This is truly your 'baby' - I only shared with all what I'm proposing to do for my Glovebox.
What you're doing is the best thing since sliced bread and am truly sorry for not perhaps making myself more clear. I honestly thought you'd be pleased.
cheers
John.

No worries mate, I was just acting like a petulant child and gently chucked my dummy from the pram, lol. No harm done!

Well had the car into the garage today to diagnose the coolant leak and they said that its weeping from the cylinder head as the old gasket seal is poking out. The car is not overheating and recently had the cambelt and water pump changed. Can anyone recommend a good garage that will do a good job, or is their anyone on the forum who undertakes this work as they Like MG's . I am located in teesside but don't mind traveling if its not to far and for a good job. I hope you can help. Thanks Glenn

I'm currently looking for specialists in, or near, Hamburg, Germany. This is something for the future. For reference purposes, I have a 1984 single plenum SD1 Vitesse and a 1999 416i Classic. Please note: the Dutch border is too far away, so Dutch addresses are not of interest. I'm about 1 1/2 hours drive from the Danish border. Maybe a new section for the models in question would be an idea, as this is off-topic. Cheers

My dad and I have used them to source parts for both out MG Metro and Rover 100 with good prices and very helpful service at all times. Paul, the owner is very friendly and is always will to chat or give any advice required. Lots of MG, Rover and other cars there when we visit.

We always take all our cars here for MOTs and any work that we cannot do ourselves we trust the garage to do. All work here is usually a good price, and they even pointed me elsewhere once when they thought they couldn't provide a cheaper service. Very reliable and work completed to a high standard. They pick up and drop-off car and free courtesy car if required. Friendly and helpful guys and very accommodating even at short notice. Fully recommended.

Dedicated and experienced specialists in English sports and other cars are great with Rovers, even had a used sunroof blind when mine broke more than the clips. Prices reasonable, service quick and reliable. Wrecking a 75 at present. Will do your Disco3 too.

I had difficulties finding a good Rover mechanic in Central or South East London.

Henry at C.A.R.C. was competitive on price, used good branded parts, and said he enjoyed repairing my Rover 75:

Creekside Auto Repair Centre
Greenwich
London

Motor Codes Link

It's about a 10 minute walk from Greenwich train stations.

Rover 75 and the elusive rubber grommets

I bought a Rover 75 1800, 53 plate, petrol turbo and had it for less than a week before the problems started, I have now been without it for nearly 3 months (no mean feat as a single mum running a business!). Seems the problem was the fuel pump and injector rail, parts have now been sourced and delivered but now need rubber grommets for rail ..... hope this is making sense to you guys!! Having massive problems sourcing the grommets and desperately want my car back.... live in Plymouth area, any ideas. So glad I found this forum.

Not sure if anyone has sent you this link yet but it has a lot of German and a few others listed with client comments (Stimmen)> I found it usful when I was looking for a good service center in Hamburg. http://r75.info/modules.php?name=dealerbase2&action=show_dealer&page=2&sort=plz&richtung=ASC

Hope it helps your collection. Mostly in German but for your German members it may be useful for sorting the current dealers and identifying those that are no longer valid.
Regards
McM

I have just read this thread and found it fascinating, although now very ungainly. It would be best just to leave the first post as the sticky and cut all the rest off, such as this post. I never knew Rob Drinkwater was a specialist from the town with the one-time wonky pub!

The geographical categories are all to pot and it would be far better to have a map. I mean, who could possibly lump the [look out! incorrect prejudices] whippet-walking, pigeon-fancying, flat-cap-wearing pigeon fanciers of Leighton Buzzard with the pasty-munching, cream-tea-scoffing, biscuit-tin-cover-cottagedwellers of Christchurch?

I endorse the recommendations for lates and (from his telephone advice) Nick from the Austin Garages:

For sheer understanding of how an MG should be serviced together with an ability to explain what it is he is doing for your hard-earned wonga, Dr. Dave (member here: Taunton area) must surely be near the top of the list!

JPS autocare Preston.

A great garage, very busy but still found time to diagnose and fix my clutch problem. He correctly diagnosed the master cylinder and didn't once suggest it was the slave cylinder.

He also said he charges £450 for a cambelt and cambelt kit change on the kv6.

Hi, without being rude in the slightest way, can I politely request the first post is updated with the last few pages worth of recomendations. Plus also making a stick in either all model forums or in the general mgr chat section.

Many thanks
