Sorry if this has been explained before but I was having a quick look at why the driver side window it seemed to be closing as if it had rocking horse rails and juddering up until it squared itself up on the roof seals.
It gave the impression that the window glass was loose on the regulator assembly. If only it had been. However, I did notice as the window climbed up the cheater assembly seemed to be also rocking about and one of the securing bolts loose. To cut a long story shorter, the thread in the second bolt hole at top of door from the hinge side had threads stripped. I did run a tap down to see if it would help but was pointless.
My question is can I drill the hole out and rethread a larger size without removing the cheater and is it just a clamping hole or is that hoping for an easy fix.

Just as a quick follow up, I managed to re drill the cheater in place and helicoil a 6mmm insert wire. The result was a perfect straight running window.
