Later this year i plan to transplant a complete R25 drivetrain ( engine, gearbox and driveshafts/hubs) into an identical model R25. My question is can the drivetrain be dropped (front body lifted) or does it need to come out via the top with the driveshafts and hubs removed?
Thanks,
Nigel

I find that taking it out is easier through the bottom of the vehicle if your not keeping the car as you don't have to worry about any damage to the scrap car, however removal of the scrap engine from the car your keeping i found it better to take out the top and reinsert the replacement engine the same way.
That's pretty much how i did it when i pulled the engine out of my old MG ZR before transplanting it into my 25.

I recently removed the full drivetrain from a 25 out the bottom as I had no access to my engine crane, its all about getting it high enough, we had to go quite high as we had it drop onto a dolly, just do it little by little with jack stands and with a friend.
