Hi,
What is the opinion of re-using the cylinder head bolts on the L-series diesel?
The Haynes manual gives a length to check is this critical?
Cheers!

You can re-use if they are within length spec and not damaged in any way.
Too long and they have stretched too much and risk bottoming out when you try to tighten them up.

Cylinder head Head bolt lengths

The Rave manual head bolt sizes are way wrong. The measurement is not taken from under the head as all bolts are.

Those on the internet say they are 230mm long. This is incorrect too. All new TD4 20t2n motors bolts are 231.5 to 232 mm measured from under the bolt head [ not washer, mind]

If your cylinder head bolts are within the suggested range the they are reusable.

I advise as I bought a set of Victor Reinz to find that my existing bolts were in spec when compared to new.
Hope this helps.
