hi there my oil light has come has come on on my 220 t series coupe its starts to come on dim then goes brighter i have checked the oil and it is still on would it be a oil pressure switch deos anyone have any ideas many thanks alex

Change the oil pressure switch and make sure that the wiring to it is ok.
If the light comes on at idle and goes out as soon as the revs rise then that would indicate low oil pressure probably from worn big end bearings.

My T series coupe doing the same oil engine warms up lamp dim then stays on.

when idleing it flickers, when engine driven (not hard) it comes on full brightness.

Oil being chucked up off cams so oil getting around engine.
Took sump off strainer clean, new oil new filter and new switch but still doing it.

does anybody have an answer to why?

Worn bearings seem likely, but it could be a leaking relief valve on the pump, or a worn oil pump, how many miles on it ?.

Did you replace the o ring on the strainer.

no. oops should I have?
did not undo strainer as sump was clean.
Not a thing on strainer, when i have done this on other cars there was always some dirt, gasket bits, excess liquid gasket and such.

i am looking into a new oil pump. dreading getting that off.

I was assuming you'd removed the strainer/pick up pipe, if you didn't disturb it the o ring should be fine.

Well.......

DAmm

I changed Oil pump.
Oil lamp went out with turning engine over.
Yippee.

Went to shops and on the way.....
Oil lamp flickered and came on.
Oil being flicked up on cams.

AAAARRRGGH

I going to try wiring next.
