Any views on this one. Good or bad. Virgin media along with other providers are blocking most torrent sites. Is this a fix?

Can be, you do need to be careful about your entry and end points though as there are rouge routers out there.

There are other VPN solutions, but decent ones have a price tag.

This is where the smaller ISPs are much better than the large ones which get forced into signing up to industry schemes like that.

Tor encrypts the rest of the addressing information, called the packet wrapper. Regular Internet connections don't do this either.

The modified and encrypted data packet is then routed through many of these servers, called relays, on the way to its final destination.The roundabout way packets travel through the Tor network is akin to a person taking a roundabout path through a city to shake a pursuer.

Tor is slower but more secure. Depends on what you're using it for and if you dont mind waiting. And you can use tor through firefox too, just change the proxy settings
